AFCAT 2 2024 Exam - Check for Eligibility, Exam Date and Other Vital Details

AFCAT 2 2024 Exam: Indian Air Force (IAF) has recently released an official notification inviting eligible Indian citizens, both men and women, to apply for Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT- 02/2024) for Flying Branch and Ground Duty (Technical & Non-Technical) Branches/ NCC Special Entry for courses commencing in July 2025.

IAF welcomes all eligible and intending Indian citizens to be part of this elite force as Group ‘A’ Gazetted Officers in Flying and Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical) branches.


AFCAT 02/2024 Examination


According to AFCAT 2 2024 Examination Notification, online AFCAT examination will be conducted on 9th, 10th and 11th August 2024.


Interested and eligible candidates can apply for AFCAT 2 2024 Examination from 30 May, 2024 onwards. The deadline for submission of online application form is 28 June, 2024.

    AFCAT 2 2024 Exam Details

    The AFCAT, or Air Force Common Admission Test, is an entrance exam conducted by the Indian Air Force (IAF) to select candidates for Class 1 officer positions in both Flying and Ground Duty (technical and non-technical branches). It is held twice a year, typically in February and August.

    A total of 304 Officers vacancies are available in Flying and Ground Duty (Technical & Non-Technical) Branches out of which 237 are reserved for male candidates and 68 for female candidates. The break-up of vacancies according to the Branch and Category are as follows:


    1. Flying Branch

    AFCAT Exam 2024 Eligibility Conditions

    Candidates applying for the AFCAT exam 2024 should ensure that they fulfill all the eligibility conditions for admission to the examination.


    Candidates must possess the following eligibility conditions inorder to apply for the AFCAT Exam 2024 conducted by Indian Air Force:


    Nationality

    Candidate must be a citizen of India as per Indian citizenship act, 1955.


    Marital Status

    Candidates must be unmarried at the time of commencement of the course and marriage is not permitted during training.


    AFCAT Age Limit

    (i) Flying Branch through AFCAT and NCC Special Entry: Candidates applying in Flying Branch should be between 20 and 24 years as on 01 July 2025 i.e. he/she must have been born between 02 July 2001 and 01 July 2005 (both dates inclusive). Upper age limit for candidates holding valid and current Commercial Pilot License issued by DGCA (India) is relaxable upto 26 years i.e. he/she must have been born between 02 July 1999 to 01 July 2005 (both dates inclusive).

    (ii) Ground Duty (Technical & Non-Technical) Branch: Candidates applying for Ground Duty (Technical & Non-Technical) Branch should be between 20 and 26 years as on 01 July 2025 i.e. he.she must have been born between 02 July 1999 and 01 July 2005 (both dates inclusive).

    AFCAT Educational Qualifications


    (i) Flying Branch

    Candidates should have mandatorily passed with a minimum of 50% marks each in Maths and Physics at 10+2 level and:

    (a) Graduation with minimum three years degree course in any discipline from a recognised University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.
    'OR'
    (b) BE/B Tech degree (Four years course) from a recognised University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.

    (c) Candidates who have cleared Section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from a recognised University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.

    (ii) Ground Duty (Technical) Branch
    (a) Aeronautical Engineer (Electronics) {AE (L)}: Candidates with a minimum of 50% marks each in Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level and a minimum of four years degree graduation/integrated post-graduation qualification in Engineering/ Technology from recognised University OR cleared Sections A and B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India or Graduate membership examination of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers by actual studies with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.
    (b) Aeronautical Engineer (Mechanical) {AE (M)}: Candidates with a minimum of 50% marks each in Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level and a minimum of four years degree graduation/integrated post-graduation qualification in Engineering/Technology from recognised University OR cleared Sections A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India by actual studies with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.

    (iii) Ground Duty (Non-Technical) Branches
    (a) Weapon Systems (WS) Branch: Candidates should have mandatorily passed with a minimum of 50% marks each in Maths and Physics at 10+2 level and Graduation with minimum three years degree course in any discipline from a recognised University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.

    BE/B Tech degree (Four years course) from a recognised University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.

    (b) Administration& Logistics: Passed 10+2 and Graduate Degree (Minimum three years degree course) in any discipline from a recognised university with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent or {cleared section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from a recognised university with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.

    (c) Accounts Branch: Passed 10+2 and done graduation in any of the following streams with 60 % marks or equivalent from a recognised university:-
    ■ B. Com Degree (Min three years course).
    ■ Bachelor of Business Administration (with specialization in Finance)/ Bachelor of Management Studies (with specialization in Finance)/ Bachelor of Business Studies (with specialization in Finance).
    ■ Qualified CA/ CMA/ CS/ CFA.
    ■ B.Sc. with specialization in Finance.

    (d) Education: Passed 10+2 and Post-Graduation with 50% marks in any discipline including integrated courses offering PG (Single degree without permission to exit and lateral entry) and with 60% marks in Graduation in any discipline.

    (e) Meteorology: Passed 10+2 and B.Sc with Physics and Mathematics with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent or four year Graduation in Engineering/Technology discipline with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.

    AFCAT Exam Date 2024

    As per the AFCAT Exam 2024 Notification, AFCAT Exam 2024 will be conducted online on 9th, 10th and 11th August 2024.


    Examination Fee for AFCAT Exam 2024

    The examination fee for AFCAT entry is ₹550/- plus GST, and it is non-refundable. the fee can be paid online through the 'Make Payment' step on the main menu of the application. This fee is not applicable for NCC special entry. Please note that no cash, cheque, or demand draft (DD) will be accepted for the payment of the examination fee. The fee can be paid using credit or debit cards, or net banking through the payment gateway.


    How To Apply For AFCAT Exam 2024

    1. Register/ Login:

    • • Visit the AFCAT's portal at afcat.cdac.in. Alternatively, click the 'Register/Sign-In here' link mentioned in the 'Important Link' section below.
    • • If you haven't registered yet, click on "Register Here" and complete the One Time Registration (OTR) process.
    • • Login with your credentials after creating an account.

    2. Apply online:

    • • Once logged in, Select the applicable Entry viz AFCAT or NCC SPECIAL ENTRY FOR FLYING BRANCH and proceed.
    • • Fill-up the application form with relevant details like Personal details, Qualification details, Course preference & Communication details.
    • • Upload the required documents along with the recent Photo, Signature & Thumb Impression.
    • • Select the preferred Exam city

    3. Pay the application fee:

    • • The fee varies depending on the category of the applicant.
    • • The fee can be paid online.

    4. Submit the application:

    • • After previewing the application, click on "Submit" for final submission.
    • • You will receive an auto-generated email confirmation on your registered email id.
    • • Print out the application for future reference.

    Applicants are advised to exercise utmost care while filling in the online application. In case any information is found to be incorrect, the candidature is liable to be cancelled at any stage of the selection process. Verify the correctness of information entered in all the fields before proceeding with the “Make Payment” option. Applicants are cautioned that they will not be able to edit the previous details entered after the “Make Payment” step.


    Standard and Syllabus of AFCAT Exam 2024


    Syllabus
    • (i) English: Comprehension, Detect Error in Sentence, Sentence Completion/ Filling in of correct word, Synonym/ Antonym, Cloze Test or Fill in the Gaps in a paragraph, Idioms and Phrases, Analogy, Sentence Rearranging, Substitution in a Sentence/ One Word Substitution.
    • (ii) General Awareness: History, Geography, Sports, National & International Organisations, Art & Culture, Personalities, Environment & Ecology, Indian Polity, Economy, Basic Science Based Knowledge, Science & Technology, Current Affairs (National & International), Defence.
    • (iii) Numerical Ability: Decimal Fraction, Time and Work, Average/Percentage, Profit & Loss, Ratio & Proportion, Simple and Compound Interest, Time & Distance and Races (Trains/ Boats & Streams), Area and Perimeter, Probability, Number System & Number Series, Mixture & Allegation Rules, Clocks.
    • (iv) Reasoning and Military Aptitude Test: Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning.

    The standard of Numerical Ability Questions will be of Matriculation level. The standard of questions in other subjects will be of graduation level (Indian University).
