STET Sikkim 2024: The Education Department, Government of Sikkim will be conducting State Teacher Eligibility Test (STET) in accordance with the provision of Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE ACT 2009) and the minimum qualification laid down by NCTE (National Council for Teacher Education) for a person to be eligible for appointment as Primary Teacher for Classes I to V and for Elementary (Graduate) Teacher for Classes VI to VIII. Hence, Education Department, Govt of Sikkim invites application from the local candidates for State Teacher Eligibility Test-2024.


Interested and eligible candidates can register for the Sikkim State Teacher Eligibility Test (STET) from 12 August, 2024 onwards. The deadline for submission of online application form along with the required documents is 31 August, 2024.

    Sikkim Teacher Eligibility Test 2024 Notification Details

    Department of Education, Government of Sikkim conducts the State Teacher Eligibility Test (STET) once every year.


    All candidates who pass the STET is awarded certificate of Eligibility. The validity of the certificate will be till he/she crosses the employability age as per the State Government norms.


    A person who scores 60% or more in STET will be considered STET pass. 5 % relaxation of marks is applicable to SC/ST, Central and State OBC candidates.


    1. Name of the Post: Primary Teacher (PT)

    Eligible for: Classes I-V (Primary stage)

    Educational Qualification:
    Senior Secondary(or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks for unreserved candidates and 45% in case of SC, ST, OBC (Central), OBC (State) and passed 2years Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed).
    OR
    Senior Secondary(or its equivalent)with at least 50% marks for unreserved candidates and 45% in case of SC, ST, OBC (Central), OBC (State) and passed 4 years Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
    OR
    Senior Secondary(or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 45% in case of SC, ST, OBC (Central), OBC (State) and passed 2 years Diploma in Education (Special Education).

    2. Name of the Post: Graduate Teacher (GT)

    Eligible for: Classes VI-VIII (Elementary stage)

    Educational Qualification:
    B.A./B.Sc./ with 50% marks for unreserved candidates and 45% in case of SC, ST, OBC (Central), OBC (State) and passed 2 years Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.).
    OR
    B.A./B.Sc./ with 50% marks for unreserved candidates and 45% in case of SC, ST, OBC (Central), OBC (State) and passed 2 year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.).
    OR
    Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks, for unreserved candidates and 45% in case of SC, ST, OBC (Central), OBC (State) and passed 4 year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).

    Examination Fee for STET Sikkim 2024

    Candidates applying for Sikkim State Teacher Eligibility Test (STET) shall have to pay an examination fee of RS. 500/- (Rupees five hundred) only.

    The fee has to be paid through online mode only.


    How To Apply For Sikkim State Teacher Eligibility Test 2024

    As per the STET Sikkim notification, one can apply for the Sikkim TET 2024 via online mode only. Applications made through any other mode shall not be considered.


    Here's a step by step guide on how to apply online for STET Sikkim Exam 2024.


    Step 1: Visit the Sikkim TET online portal (www.tet.sikkim.gov.in). Alternatively, scroll down to the 'Important Links' section below and Click the 'Apply Online' link.

    Step 2: Click 'Login/Registration' link to Register on the portal.

    Step 3: Fill-up the Application Form with the required details.

    Step 4: Upload the required documents.

    Step 5: Pay the applicable Examination fee.

    Step 6: After confirming/verifying the filled details, submit the form.

    Step 7: Print the form for future reference.

    Documents/ Details Required to Apply for STET Sikkim Exam 2024

    Candidates must keep the following documents/details ready before filling-up the STET Sikkim Exam application form:


    • 1. Scanned/Digital Photograph (of the Applicant)
    • 2. Scanned Signature (of the Applicant)
    • 3. Scanned Professional Degree/Diploma Certificate(of the Applicant)
    • 4. Scanned Photo ID Proof (COI/Aadhar/Voter ID/Driving License etc.)

    Pattern of Examination for Sikkim TET 2024


    STET questions will be of objective type (Multiple Choice Question). There will be no negative marking. No. of MCQ (Multiple Choice Question) = 150. All are compulsory.


    Duration of examination will be of 2:30 hrs.

    Paper I (for Primary Teacher for classes I to V) - Structure and Content

    1. Child development and pedagogy: 30 MCQs - 30 Marks
    2. Language I: 30 MCQs - 30 Marks
    3. Language II: 30 MCQs - 30 Marks
    4. Mathematics: 30 MCQs - 30 Marks
    5. Environmental Studies: 30 MCQs - 30 Marks

    Nature of content and Question:
    • The Test items on Child Development and Pedagogy will focus on Educational Psychology of Teaching and Learning relevant to the age group of 6-11 years.
    • The Test items for language-I will focus on the proficiencies related to the Medium of instruction that is English.
    • The Language-II will be from among the prescribed option other than Language I. A candidate may choose any one of the vernacular being taught in the schools of Sikkim from Class I-V. The applicants will have to specify the language in his/her application form. (Lepcha/Bhutia/Nepali/Limboo/Hindi).
    • The test items in Mathematics and Environmental Studies will focus on the concepts, problem solving abilities and pedagogical understandings of the subjects prescribed for classes I to V in the State. The questions will be based on syllabus for classes I to V, but their difficulty level, as well as linkage,will be upto the secondary stage.

    Paper II (for Graduate teacher for classes VI to VIII) - Structure and content

    1. Child development and pedagogy: 30 MCQs - 30 Marks
    2. Language I: 30 MCQs - 30 Marks
    3. Language II: 30 MCQs - 30 Marks
    4. Mathematics and Science: 60 MCQs - 60 Marks
    OR Social Studies (for Social studies teacher): 60 MCQs - 60 Marks

    Nature and content of Questions:
    • The test items on Child Development and Pedagogy will focus on Educational Psychology of Teaching and Learning, relevant to the age group11-14 years.
    • The test items for Language-I will focus on the proficiencies related to the medium of instruction that is English.
    • The Language-II will be a language other than Language-I. The person may choose any one language from among the available options being taught in Classes VI to VIII in the schools in Sikkim (Lepcha/Bhutia/Nepali/Limboo/Hindi).The test items in Language II will also focus on the elements of language, communication and comprehension abilities.
    • The test items in Mathematics and Science will be of 30 marks each, and will focus on the Concepts, Problem Solving Abilities and Pedagogical understanding of these subjects.
    • The test items of Social Studies will be of 60 marks evenly distributed between History, Geography and Civics as prescribed for classes VI to VIII by the State Government.
